6/22/2023 0 Comments Extremely loud and incredibly bookThis quote inspires me by reminding me that we can perform acts of kindness for the people who are closest to us, but we can also do them for those we might not know as well. Moments like that have inspired me to remember that you do not need to understand an act of kindness in order to accomplish one. In those times, I have always been grateful for the people around me who are willing to help, no matter what the situation is. There have been times in my own life when I have been in need of kindness from others. This is the form of kindness that I have been inspired to share since my first time reading the book. What I love most is how the story highlights one of the most important forms of kindness that we can practice: a kind where we do not have to understand why we are doing it, but we know it will help somebody else. The nine-year-old main character of the story travels around New York City meeting all kinds of people from all over the world. This story is meaningful to me for many reasons, but especially because of what it teaches about kindness. In my favorite book “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” Jonathan Safran Foer writes about the struggle of a young boy trying to connect with his father after losing him on September 11th. “I hope that one day you will have the experience of doing something you do not understand for someone you love.” ― Jonathan Safran Foer 6/22/2023 0 Comments The Pink Book by Kaye Blegvadanother poetry book where it is not in theme and contains love stuff and maybe. Gone With the Wind was one of the media phenomena of the century. Under her maiden name of Margaret Mitchell, Peggy Marsh was the most famous citizen of Atlanta as the author of the book which had decisively put the city on the map. She was hit, dragged along under the car and left unconscious with such severe injuries that she died at the Grady Hospital five days later. Peggy Marsh dodged back towards the kerb they had left as the driver desperately steered to his left to try to avoid the couple. They were half way over when a car was suddenly upon them from their right, driven too fast by an off-duty taximan who had had too much to drink. On their way to see the film Canterbury Tales at the Peachtree Arts Theatre, they started across the road. At 8.15 on the mercilessly hot evening of August 11th, 1949, Peggy Mitchell Marsh and her husband John parked their car at the side of Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. 6/22/2023 0 Comments On Chapel Sands by Laura CummingCumming grew up enthralled by her mother’s strange tales of life in a seaside hamlet of the 1930s, and of the secrets and lies perpetuated by a whole community. The child remembered nothing of these events and nobody ever spoke of them at home. Five agonising days went by before she was found in a nearby village. In the autumn of 1929, a small child was kidnapped from a Lincolnshire beach.
